What Can I Say?

Ok, well....so much for keeping up with posting - again.

It seems that Facebook has made blogs seem almost useless. How much do I have to say that hasn't already been said there? Or how many readers do I have that don't see my Facebook posts? I always seem to think that everyone who reads my blog posts already know everything that is in them. Oh well....we'll see what I can come up with. :)

Currently, I'm working on knitting a chemo hat for a lady at church. It's a pattern from KnitPicks.com that was given to me by a friend. So far, it;s turning out quite nicely.

Speaking of Knit Picks...I got this pattern from them and made it as a Christmas gift. I absolutely love the pattern!

I've also been working on a pair of socks. Spiral Tube socks with Paton's stretchy sock yarn. I have one done, and I'm pretty happy with it. Now I need to finish the other....

One of my Christmas gifts was a graphic tablet. It has made working with graphic art in PhotoShop so much more fun! I made a couple of desktop wallpapers for my Mom with Tigger in them. Here they are:

Click the photos to go to the page where you can download full-size copies. :)

You can see all of my other recent creations in my Picasa Web Album where I upload them as I make them. :)

We've been enjoying the warmer weather we've had off and on here. I take walks with Ahnnah every day that I can. We've found that if you walk up our road and continue on to the part that's mostly unused, we pass the well and the old horse stables and end up on a gravel road...that's very squishy when it's wet. It's wet quite often, because when the well is full, the overflow runs out and down across the road. Sometimes, there's a steady stream running across the road. Eventually it ends up at a dead end where it circles around a big tree. It's perfect though, because if we walk at a good, brisk pace all the way to the end and back, it takes a full hour. :)

We had an ice storm hit our area about a month ago. I took some really neat pictures of ice-covered things. I've had my uncle's "old" camera for the past couple of months. He let me borrow it when he got a new one. Being a professional photographer, he has nice cameras. :) I LOVE this camera! It's a Nikon D80.

And we had a big snow....

Well, not bad for spur of the moment, huh? :) We'll see if I can come up with more soon...

Artwork & Updates

Ok, this is going to be a really long post....
I think everyone knows by now that I'm one of the world's greatest procrastinators. :P How long ago did I promise this post? And now it has much more in it than I originally intended...:P

First off, I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy one. :) I have a few good pictures...those who want them can talk to me, as I'll be uploading them soon.

Lately, I've been acquiring lots of music from David Arkenstone, all of which is very good. How can you not like a guy who named one of his kids Valinor? :P

I've been reading the autobiography of Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler for the past week. It's an awesome book! I highly recommend it to everyone. ;)

The recipe blog that I mentioned starting up a while back has been started. :) I'm sorry that I haven't mentioned it before now...
Slowly, but surely, I will get recipes on there....and little pokes from friends don't hurt a bit. ;)

Knitting is something that I've been doing a lot of...hats, scarves, shawls, blankets...I'm addicted. :P I'm determined to learn how too knit socks and sweaters soon... Until then, I just need to find more people that I can clothe in hats and scarves. :P

Now for the main focus of this post...some artwork from my sister and I. These are all Pendragon themed. Those of you who have not seen The Burns Family's movie Pendragon: Sword of His Father definitely should. It was made by a Christian home-schooling family. The "Southern" Burns family is a part of our home-school group. :)

We went to my grandma's house yesterday to celebrate birthdays (hers, my brother's, and mine) and I helped her place an order for her copy of the DVD (why she waited until I was there rather than having me help over the phone if she needed me to is beyond me! :P) and she made us all laugh by saying "I have to pay for shipping and wait 3 to 5 days for it to get here when I live about 15 minutes from their house? Isn't there a way that I can ask them if I can just drive over there and pick it up?" LOL!

Also, for those of you who love movie soundtracks, the Pendragon soundtrack is one if the best - if not the best - that you can get. ;)
Now, for the artwork...

First up are some drawings. These were done by my younger sister. She was inspired to begin drawing people after seeing some pictures that I showed her of my dear friend Lizzy's wonderful drawings. :) With much encouragement and help from Lizzy, she has become very good over the past couple of years. (Thank you, Lizzy, we love you dearly!)

As usual, click them all for full size. :)

Next are some desktop wallpapers that I have made using screenshots from the movie and photos that the Burns family have posted on their site and on Facebook. :) Some of them also have quotes from the movie on them, and one has a poem that I wrote that was inspired by the movie. :)

I have to comment on this one...
Let me just say that I nearly died laughing when this picture came up on Facebook. I had been searching for the right picture to use with this quote, too...it was perfect!

Now, my birthday is officially over and I stayed up way later than I meant to! :P

St. Louis Blues Wallpapers

I might as well just accept the fact that most of my posts are going to be "much-needed updates"...:P

Currently, I am knee-deep in knitting and wallpaper-making. Some of the Christmas gifts I gave were for knitted items and discs of computer wallpapers and screen saver slide shows. Now I am feeling the affects of those. :P

I've already finished four scarves and two hats. I have one hat to go and a pair of socks...if I can figure out how to use the pattern I have for thinner yarn. The pattern that I have and know how to do gives you a pair of socks that look more like slippers. They're very warm, though! :P

Anyway, I thought I'd share a few of the wallpapers I've made thus far. :P

Hockey and Christmas - Can It Get Any Better?

Ok, time for a much-needed update. :P

The game I went to was great! The Pens won 6-3. You can read all of the details here, if you like. ;) Though the majority of Blues fans weren't impressed with their own team, apparently Sidney Crosby was, LOL. That's good to know. :)

A couple of days before the game, I received my "Roaming Penguins" in the mail. These little guys are so cute! You can read all about them here, and about a special project that they're a part of here. And, if you click here, you can see what other Roaming Penguins are up to. One Marc-Andre Penguin has actually met his human counterpart, Marc-Andre Fleury! I have a Sidney Penguin, a Geno Penguin, and a Marc-Andre Penguin (so far! :D).

My dog, Bunny, with Sidney, Geno, and Marc-Andre Penguin. They're all so cute!
And yes, Marc-Andre is actually sitting on Bunny's back. :P

A couple of weeks ago, Lizzy surprised me with an amazing drawing of Sidney Crosby. Now, i must take a minute to brag on my friend. ;) I showed her an icon I made using a picture that I found and mentioned that I would love to have a drawing made from it, but I would need to find a bigger version of it as this one was on 250 pixels. She said that if I found one she would try to do it for me, so I went to Google Images and started hunting. We were talking on Windows IM while I was looking, and I was sharing my results...some were quite interesting, and I found several good pictures (I probably added at least 50 new pictures to my rather large gallery :P)...but not the one I was looking for. About 50 pages into my search, Lizzy informed me that she found my picture. Quite amazed, I asked if she could send me the link. She said no, and sent me a file on IM. I was completely speechless - It was a drawing! She drew it while we were talking and I was searching. Isn't she wonderful? :)

This is the picture that I showed to Lizzy, and have yet to find a bigger version of.
I made a wallpaper using her drawing, and added a poem I wrote to go with it. I love how it turned out. :)

Voting for the starting line-up of the NHL All Star game is now open. Somehow Canadiens fans have managed to cheat and get their players tons of extra votes...if it weren't for that, I do believe that Pittsburgh's own Crosby and Malkin would be in 1st and 2nd place for the Eastern Conference. None of the Blues' players have made it to the leaders' board yet. :( We're trying, though...

~*~*~

Moving on to a different subject (one that I'm sure my readers will be much more interested in! :P) - Christmas is coming! One of our local radio stations has already switched over to playing Christmas music, and another one will tomorrow. I've also started some of my shopping. :D This year, I'll be knitting as many gifts as I can. I have the yarn for three scarves...I have no idea who I'll be giving one of them to. :P And the other two I'm making using Lion Suede. I really love how the first one's turning out. I'm going to have to get me some later to make one out of. :D I'd also love to be able to figure out how to make socks before it's too late...and my Mom has requested leg warmers. The pattern I have for those has some unfamiliar stitches in it too. :P This past weekend, I invested in the Knitting For Dummies book, so I'm hoping that it can help me. :P

I still have yet to decorate my room. I hope to have it done by Thanksgiving. :) My sister won't let it not be. :P We have twice as much this year than we did last year...it should be fun. We even have lights to put up this year. :)

Also on the subject of Christmas...I'll be playing the part of a cow in a Christmas play at church. Yes, a cow. :P My mom volunteered me. Excepting the narrator, the cow is the largest part. I guess that's why she wanted me to do it...
My sister is drawing the animals that we'll use for the play, and I'm colouring them. You'd be surprised how hard it is to colour a sheep. :P

Ok, I think I'm done. :P Is this the longest post I've ever made? I think it is...

Now I have to go and locate all of the links that I need to add in...:P

Wallpapers

Ok, for those of you, my beloved readers, who haven't noticed it yet...
I happen to be a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL hockey team. :D

This past week, a project was introduced on a blog that I frequent, The Sidney Crosby Show (Crosby is the Captain of the Penguins). It was a project to submit your favourite wallpapers of the team, either one's you've found or ones you've made. So I started making some. :D

I thought that I'd share with you all the ones that I submitted:

And a final one was added late:

The bottom quote is by a fellow follower of TSCS, Mer, and we had to wait for permission from her before posting it. :) I made this wallpaper in celebration of the awesome win that the Pens had in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals 2008. In that game Talbot scored the tying goal only 30 seconds before the game was over and the Red Wings would win the Cup. That sent the game into overtime where their goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury, was amazing. And Sykora after calling his shot in the 2nd overtime, scored the game-winning goal in the 3rd. Unfortunately, they went on to lose Game 6 and did not win the Cup. :(
